South Africa Olive Field Day
On 10 November 2021, SA Olive held their annual field day in the Paarl at Cascade Manor. AECI Plant Health was one of the sponsors. The Field day consisted of formal presentations followed by pruning and machinery demonstrations in the olive orchards at Buffet Olives.
Carlo Costa, a consultant, presented on Summer pruning of Olives, Chris Malan of Netafim, presented on the irrigation of Olives and Stephan Verreynne of AECI Plant Health explained the Holistic Approach to Plant Health on Olives.
Only a few Agrochemical product registrations exist on olives. In-field Mulching equipment, electric pruning shears and saws and mulch spreaders were demonstrated in the olive orchards. About 50 people attended the day, including Owen de Wet and Pat Le Vieux of AECI Plant Health.
