Adjuvants help overcome pesticide water solubility and quality issues when tank-mixed and applied. Most pesticides are not formulated in water, and adjuvants assist in overcoming the interface problems encountered when preparing the product for application. They  ensure that a homogeneous mixture is sprayed. Furthermore, the waxy surfaces of many insects, fungi and plants make it difficult for most water-based spray solutions to penetrate their target. Adjuvants are used to overcome these barriers. They are also utilised to manage droplet size for improved efficiency when spraying. The addition of adjuvants can increase the efficacy of pesticides.
