It is extremely difficult to practice productive farming without the use of herbicides to protect crops from weeds which compete for nutrients, water and sunlight. Weeds are described as any plants that grow against the farmer’s wishes. The effective and responsible use of herbicides is critical in most commercial farming applications, and where farmers reduce the practice of ploughing their fields. Depending on the level of weed control practiced, yield losses can vary from 10% to 100%.
