This is to inform the public of an administrative action being taken in relation to the approval of an agricultural remedy under the Fertilizer, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act (Act No. 36 of 1947). AECI® Limited, hereby inform the public of their intention to submit an application for derogation for the registered agricultural remedy containing Glufosinate-ammonium 200 g/L .

The South African macadamia industry has grown rapidly since the 1960s, becoming the leading producer of macadamia nuts in the world, exporting about 98% of its production.

The industry’s yearly production has increased significantly from R32-million in 1996 to about R4.6-billion in 2022.

The polyphagous shot hole borer (PSHB) or stump-headed beetle presents a major challenge for the fruit industry in South Africa.

AECI Plant Health held a crucial information day last month, where deciduous fruit producers governing body Hortgro applied entomology researcher Dr Minette Karsten unpacked the struggle with the PSHB, helping keep our crop advisors (CAs) up to speed on the most important changes and challenges facing the stone fruit industry.

The sustainability of the local tobacco industry continues to be threatened by illicit cigarette trade.  

AECI Plant Health, part of #OneAECIForABetterWorld, joined stakeholders at a tobacco day recently hosted by Limpopo Tobacco Processors in Rustenburg in support of South Africa's struggling tobacco producers.

The banning of cigarettes during the Covid-19 pandemic opened the floodgates for the illegal cigarette trade in South Africa.

On 10 November 2021, SA Olive held their annual field day in the Paarl at Cascade Manor. AECI Plant Health was one of the sponsors. The Field day consisted of formal presentations followed by pruning and machinery demonstrations in the olive orchards at Buffet Olives.

AECI Plant Health sponsored the book “Hartstories van ons land se Boere” by Ivor Price and Kobus Louwrens. The English version, ‘’For The Love of the Land’’ was released some years ago.

The launch of the book took place on 17 November in Centurion. A strong contingent of AECI Plant Health personnel attended the launch, including 3 members of the executive management.

In celebration of World Food Day, AECI donated ten mobile trolley libraries,
6 000 age-appropriate educational books and food gardens that will supply fresh vegetables to school nutrition programmes.

On October 29, AECI Plant Health, part of #OneAECIForABetterWorld, made its World Food Day donation to Wit Deep Primary School, in Boksburg, under the theme of Food for the Mind and Food for the Soul.

The Geoprobe is a piece of equipment that allows Nulandis to take an undisturbed soil profile. Mounted on the back of a vehicle that drives through a field, it uses GPS technology

A R50 million capital expenditure project at Nulandis in Modderfontein included the installation of five 166m3 bulk stainless steel tanks for the storage of calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate, as well as a modern tanker loading facility and a more efficient filter press. In the yard area, the existing infrastructure has been refurbished, while redundant tanks have been removed.

Actellic gold dust is an insecticide for use against grain storage pests, grain weevil, red flour beetle and lesser grain borer in maize and other grain products. These include beans, groundnuts, rice, soya beans and pigeon peas. It preserves grain for a period of at least nine months.
